Our Mission
HEALTH EDUCATION
Many members of the LGBTQIA+ community have faced difficulty in accessing quality healthcare. This hardship is often exacerbated when members of the healthcare team lack knowledge about social factors and care issues vital to the LGBTQIA+ population.
Pride in Pharmacy Association provides education on these topics to student pharmacists. Once these student enter practice they can use this information to improve better quality care for LGBTQIA+ patients - thereby improving healthcare outcomes in this community.
SUPPORTING INCOMING STUDENTS
The first day of any PharmD program is unique time for every incoming student. Students in the LGBTQIA+ community can face stress during the transition without support networks in their new environment. Pride in Pharmacy Association aims to ease the transition into the PharmD program at the University of Illinois Chicago by assessing and addressing the needs of incoming LGBTQIA+ students.
CREATING COMMUNITY
Pride in Pharmacy Association encourages a sense of community within the LGBTQIA+ student body through social events and shared community outreach.
CAREER SUPPORT
The final component of the Rockford PiPA mission is to nurture the success of UIC College of Pharmacy LGBTQIA+ students as they transition to the workplace by connecting current LGBTQIA+ students with alumni mentors.
